Provisioning Your DSL Service

We recognize that waiting for your DSL installation can be an agonizing experience. So, we would like to take a moment to share with you an outline of the provisioning process. As each milestone in this process is reached we will send you an e-mail to keep you apprised of your DSL order’s progress. Our goal is to keep you as informed as possible while we move through the 4-6 week order provisioning process.

* Please note the steps below that result in direct communication from
TransEdge are underlined.

Business Day 1 - 4

  • You fill out and return the contract provided to you by your TransEdge sales representative.
  • TransEdge places order for DSL qualified phone line with local telephone company.
  • TransEdge sends you this welcome / outline letter.

Business Day 4 - 8

  • The local regional telephone company will issue a Firm Order Commitment (FOC) to TransEdge for your order. The FOC will include the anticipated Service Order Completion (SOC) date - an estimated date on which the local phone company will provision the new phone line required for your DSL Service.
  • TransEdge sends an e-mail to you with the anticipated Service Order Completion (SOC) date as determined by the local regional telephone company.

Business Day 21 - 30

  • On the SOC date the local regional telephone company will provision the qualified phone line which TransEdge will use for your DSL service.
  • In addition, on the SOC date the telephone company will install the dedicated phone line at your location and will need access to your telephone box. This box is where your inside telephone wiring connects with the local phone network.

    * Please review the phone company installation guidelines below. If the technician cannot access the telephone box on the scheduled installation date it could possibly delay your order up to a week or more.

Phone Company Installation Guidelines
Single Business Location
If the telephone box is outside, you do not need to be available. It is possible you won’t even know that the phone company has been there, because they will go directly to the phone box. However, if you have pets or a lock on your gate, you will need to make sure the pets are locked up and that the gate is unlocked. If access to the box is restricted, someone at least 18 years old will need to be on-site and available to ensure access for the technician on the Service Order Completion (SOC) date.
Multi-Tenant Location
The box is usually located inside a utility closet. Please consult with your building manager or leasing company before installation to verify his/her availability to provide access to the technician.
  • TransEdge will work with the phone company technician to run a series of tests on the line to ensure it functions properly. If the phone line test is successful, TransEdge Customer Support will call you to schedule an appointment for a TransEdge DSL installation technician to perform the inside wiring and install your DSL circuit.
  • TransEdge sends an e-mail to you with the date and time scheduled for the installation of your DSL inside wiring. Included in this e-mail will be detailed Account Information, such as user ID, password, e-mail addresses, IP addresses, and more.
Business Day 31 - 45
  • The TransEdge authorized installation technician will install your DSL service and inside wiring on the agreed upon date.
  • In order to install your DSL, your computer must meet the following minimum requirements:
Minimum PC requirements:
100 MHz (or faster) Pentium-based processor (or equivalent)
Windows 95 or better or Windows NT operating system
16 MB RAM for Windows 95 or 32 MB RAM for Windows 98/NT 4.0
50 MB of available hard disk space
CD-ROM drive - Installed
10BaseT Ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC) - Installed

Minimum Macintosh requirements:
Power PC or faster processor
Open Transport 1.1.1 enabled
Mac OS 7.55 or greater
16 MB RAM
50 MB of available hard disk space
CD-ROM drive - Installed
10BaseT Ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC) - Installed

  • On the day of your installation, the installation technician will perform the following to ONE computer:
  • Install wiring from the phone box to your requested location (up to 50 feet to your DSL wall jack without additional charges).
  • Configure the bridge or router.
  • Connect the bridge or router to one computer or network.
  • Configures one computer so that you will have access to the Internet on your new DSL line.
  • After your Inside Wiring is completed TransEdge sends you an order completion e-mail.
  • Remember, you must have a previously installed 10BaseT Ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC) in your computer so your router or bridge can connect to your computer. An Ethernet card can be purchased at most computer electronics stores.
  • TransEdge Customer Support will contact you to see that your DSL is working correctly, and answer any questions you might have.
  • The order is sent to billing. TransEdge will send monthly bills via e-mail or, if you prefer we can bill you for service each month on your credit card.
As you can see by the outline, there are a lot of steps involved in provisioning and installing your DSL service. TransEdge has created a state of the art Order Management System to track your DSL order. Our dedicated team will monitor your order through completion.

It is important to understand that circumstances can, and do, arise that prevent the local phone company or TransEdge from reaching the estimated installation date. Additionally, while we will work diligently to see your order through completion, some orders are unable to be installed due to various technical issues and/or limitations. Should we encounter any technical issue and/or limitation that jeopardizes your order, we will notify you. In some cases orders may need to be cancelled. If this is the case with your order, we will notify you as soon as we know and you will not be charged any cancellation fees.

If, at any time, you would like to check the status of your order please feel free to call us at 866-636-HELP (4357).
